{Change is difficult, which is why uplifting stories on transition are always welcome. Grace moves through life’s changes with courage and optimism underpinned with a knowing confidence that she’ll be fine on the other end of the challenge. As a senior military officer, I’ve seen first-hand the challenges children have moving every few years and living a life filled with change.  A must-read for children who experience fear or resistance to change in their lives.

{I love the relationship Grace has with her mommy, Katy. Grace watches everything she does, and she is amazed at how much her mom can accomplish on her own, while making it look so easy. They enjoy their quiet time together as much as their exciting adventures! That is what makes their bond so special. It’s fun to have friends along during your adventures, but the time you spend with people you love the most is truly a gift and one that should not be taken for granted. I grew up with a wonderful single mom and watched her do everything on her own. Just like Katy does for Grace, my mom always made sure my sister and I were well taken care of. {Katy McQuaid’s children’s book series Everybody Loves Grace is like Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood on the road. For the stories, the world is their oyster. Told through the eyes of Grace the dog, they immediately connect with the child in all innocence and wonder. There’s no better way for a child to see and learn about places of enchantment and experience which must be navigated through life.

It is called Common because no one is excluded from its presence, and it is Grace in that it reflects the very nature of the Divine. There is a complementary tradition which understands our human condition as one of desperately needing Grace but often not seeing it, even when it wags its tail at us.
